Ylang-ylang is a perfume of Mayotte it represents the island, the perfume is unique.
We can produce oil out of it , the flowers are green then turn yellow when mature.
The Ylang ylang is a large tree with twisted branches which form is obtained by the pollarding of branches to facilitate the picking of flowers. It is grown for its flowers from which we extract an essential oil by distillation, used in perfumery. In Combani, we’ve got the Guerlain’s plantation, a very famous perfumer.
We can find vanilla in our island, it is the "Bourbon quality" found in La Reunion and Madagascar too. In January, vanilla pods hanging on the vines, twisted themselves around their guardians, are of a beautiful bright green. They grow in the midst of tall grass to retain moisture for their development. In March, all is weeded. A month of work at least! Then in May, the new harvest begins. Only after various stages of drying, vanilla can be sold ...
We use vanilla for cooking and perfume, the flavour is so delicious and the fragance so good.
