  • Water rockets

First, we filled the bottle with water and then closed the bottle. After having closed the bottle, a hole is drilled below the bottle with a tube and a pump. we pumped to enable the air to enter the bottle.when the bottle is filled with air, the rocket propels until ten meters. Maybe with a bigger bottle we could travel to Space!!! : )

The hedgehogs in Mayotte

The season of the hedgehogs called Landra in Shimaore begins at  the rainy season. They hide in holes then go out at night to look for food. This is why  men hunt them at night. They look cute but are delicious in your plate too!

For the hunt it is necessary to be equipped with a flashlight(torch), resisting shoes, bladed weapon such as a knife and the other one. It is necessary to pay attention to the thorns, because they can be dangerous and hurt.

For the culinary preparation, it is necessary to cut at first the head but not completely, later we let pour the blood, then we make warm some water to remove the horns, then it is necessary to remove the bad things which are inside, finally we cut it in small pieces and we put in a marmite.

For the cooking, it is necessary to put a little water in the pot, later we put some salt, of local plants, pepper, garlic...

Then we wait for 15 to 20 minutes for it to be cooked. Then finally we eat  this delicious, succulent, extraordinary meal. !!!!!!!!!

The zebu

-

The zebu recognizable with its fat hump at the withers is usually light gray or red .

A native of the Indian peninsula where it was domesticated there are nearly 10 000 years (probably from the aurochs), it was brought to Africa and Madagascar before being subjected to intensive farming in Brazil, the United States, Central America and Australia, but since the independence of India, exports of this sacred animal is no longer possible.

In Mayotte, zebu are often found resting, tied to a stake planted on the roadside or behind the trailing end of a rope. Beware when you travel the roads of Mayotte, because they are very often crossing them.

Its meat is a real appreciated dish and eaten for great occasions such as celebrations of weddings or religious parties. We can see men cutting the meat on the road side and selling it to the inhabitants. The animal is also useful in the caring of field for the different crops.

The Lemur  Comba called Maki is a primate or lemur considered as the fulvus in Madagascar, or as one of its sub-species (Eulemur fulvus mayottensis - Schlegel, 1866). He lives on the island of Mayotte in the Comoros archipelago, where it was introduced by a man from Madagascar.

THE DOLPHINS AND WHALES

In Mayotte, there is a beautiful lagoon. In this wonderful lagoon, it is possible to meet dolphins every year and whales from July to October.

There are sea excursions for tourists.

There is also diving there to observe these species more closely.  The whales are mammals which come to Mayotte to reproduce themselves and give birth to their babies. There is a coral barrier which protects them from the sharks. They are large-sized (tall) and belong to the cetaceans like dolphins.
